(AP) - TOKYO, May 27 (Kyodo) — Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama said Thursday the Japanese government's policy on the relocation of the U.S. Marine Corps' Futenma Air Station in Okinawa Prefecture will be consistent with a joint statement to be released on the matter by the two countries.

In the face of strong opposition from one of the ruling coalition parties, government sources have said Hatoyama is planning not to specify where the air base will be moved when he sets a course for its relocation on Friday, although the joint statement is set to mention the base will be moved to the Henoko coastal area in the same prefecture.

"There is only one way of thinking," Hatoyama told reporters in the evening. "I see no contradiction."
