Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama is expected to visit Okinawa as early as next Tuesday. He will explain the government's plan for relocating the US Marine Corps' Futenma Air Station.

Hatoyama will meet with Okinawa Governor Hirokazu Nakaima. Details of the government's plan are still not clear.

Hatoyama is expected to convey his will to ease the burden on the people of Okinawa and eliminate the dangers of having an air base near residential areas.

Okinawans staged a massive rally on Sunday demanding the removal of Futenma air base from the prefecture.
