Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama will visit Okinawa next Tuesday to explain the government's efforts to relocate the US Marine Corps' Futenma Air Station.
During the visit, Hatoyama will meet with Okinawa Governor Hirokazu Nakaima. The Prime Minister aims to convey his resolve to ease the burden on Okinawans and eliminate the dangers of having an air base near residential areas.

The government is working to finalize its plan for relocating the base. It is expected the plan will include removal of some of the base's functions out of Okinawa, but the details are still not clear.
