Washington, April 14 (Jiji Press) -- Tadakatsu Sano, an aide to Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama, held talks with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg on Wednesday.
The content of the talks was not disclosed, but Sano and Steinberg are believed to have discussed planned relocation of the U.S. Marine Corps' Futenma air station in Okinawa Prefecture, southern Japan, and Iran's nuclear development program.
Sano, who accompanied Hatoyama to the United States to attend a two-day nuclear security summit ended Tuesday, continued to stay here even after Hatoyama returned home.
Wednesday's meeting was also attended by Japanese Ambassador to the United States Ichiro Fujisaki.
Sano told reporters after the meeting that he just made a courtesy call on Steinberg.
