Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada says it will have no impact on Japan-US relations that Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama will not hold formal talks with US President Barack Obama in Washington next week.

Speaking before the Upper House Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee on Thursday, Okada said he felt a little regret that a bilateral meeting is not scheduled.
He also said he thinks that President Obama is putting priority on meeting leaders whom he has not yet sat down with.
