Hatoyama to visit Shanghai in June

    Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama is planning to visit China in June partly to promote a Japanese pavilion at the 2010 World Exposition that opens in Shanghai next month.

    Hatoyama told Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi of his plan at their meeting last year.

    On Tuesday, Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirofumi Hirano confirmed to reporters that the government is arranging Hatoyama's schedule for China in June.

    Earlier in the day, Hatoyama said he has proposed to China to visit for the Shanghai exposition but that he has yet to decide the schedule.
