Hirano wants to meet Tokunoshima mayors

Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirofumi Hirano says the government is doing all it can to reach a decision on the Futenma base relocation by the end of May.

Hirano told reporters on Wednesday that he sees a strong possibility that the issue will be resolved by then.

Asked it he will call the mayors of Tokunoshima Island to ask for a meeting, he said he hopes to explain the government's ideas to them in person.
