Dec 24 07:20 AM US/EasternTOKYO, Dec. 24 (AP) - (Kyodo) — The Japanese and U.S. governments are arranging a visit to Japan by U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Jan. 9 for talks with Prime Minister Taro Aso and Foreign Minister Hirofumi Nakasone, sources familiar with Japan-U.S. relations said Wednesday.
What will likely be her last meeting with her Japanese counterpart is expected to focus on issues related to North Korea and Afghanistan, according to the sources.
Rice is scheduled to visit Tokyo and Seoul after attending an event to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of U.S.-China relations, the sources said.
Rice last visited Japan in June for a foreign ministerial meeting of the Group of Eight countries held in Kyoto.
