NAHA, Japan, Aug. 1 KYODO - Okinawa Gov. Hirokazu Nakaima met with state minister in charge of Okinawa Seiji Maehara, in Naha, Okinawa Prefecture, on Sunday and said he will deal positively with a consultative body to be set up by the government and local authorities this month to discuss the issue of the planned relocation of the U.S. Marine Corps' Futenma Air Station.
The government is now trying to work out how to transfer the heliport functions of the Futenma airstrip located in a crowded residential area of Ginowan to the less densely populated Henoko district at the Marines' Camp Schwab in Nago by 2014 in line with an accord reached with the United States in May.
