Japan's Maritime Self-Defense Force vessels are visiting Baltimore to mark the 50th anniversary of the revision of the Japan-US Security Treaty.
The training vessel, Kashima, and 2 other ships made the port call at the US east coast city on Monday. About 190 junior officers, who graduated from the MSDF executive school in March, are aboard the vessels.In a welcoming ceremony at the pier, a US naval officer said the US Navy and Japan's MSDF have forged a strong partnership over the past 50 years.
They will visit Arlington National Cemetery in Washington then leave for Portugal on Thursday.
