US President Barack Obama has denounced North Korea's alleged involvement in the sinking of a South Korean warship and has asked China to take strong action against the North.
Speaking to reporters in Toronto, Canada, after the G20 summit, Obama expressed support for South Korea's claim that the fatal attack was carried out by the North.
He said North Korea's belligerent behavior is unacceptable and the international community will continue to step up pressure on the North until it decides to follow international norms.The president said he wants the UN Security Council to acknowledge the alleged attack.
Obama also said he had conveyed his view to Chinese President Hu Jintao during their meeting on Saturday. China remains cautious about the incident.
Obama said the United States understands that North Korea borders China but that there's a difference between, in his words, restraint and willful blindness.
